1995:
The Lapeer County Community Support Council introduces the concept of a community foundation. A steering committee is formed.
1996:
A decision is made to affiliate temporarily with the Community Foundation of Greater Flint. Bob and Lura Myers donate $20,000 in seed money. Lapeer County Probate Children's Fund and Lapeer Regional Hospital Fund are established.
1997:
Fund development plan approved by foundation trustees. New funds established: Wakaresku, Hazel Simms Scholarship, Broesamle, and Lapeer County Medical. $10,000 in funding received from Kellogg Foundation establishing Lapeer County Youth Initiative Fund. First grants given totaling $4,100.
1998:
W.K. Kellogg Foundation awards an additional $300,000 in matching funds to the Lapeer County Youth Initiative Fund.
1999:
New funds established: Dirks Memorial Scholarship, Family Literacy Center, Marguerite deAngeli Library, Philip Hart Scholarship, Lapeer Schools Scholarship & Loan, and Lapeer Courthouse Restoration. By the end of the year, the Lapeer Fund market value exceeds $2,000,000.
2000:
The Lapeer County Community Fund receives an unrestricted gift of $500,000. The Lapeer Historical Society Fund and George Lutz Camp Fund are established. Total in grants given is just under $67,000.
2001:
The Lapeer County Community Fund receives an unrestricted gift of $2,500,000. Six new funds are established: Lapeer District Library, West Genesee Natural Area, Clarke Adams, Family Literacy Center Non-Endowed, United Way Endowment, and United Way Non-Endowed.
2002:
The Lapeer County Community Fund Administrative Endowment Fund is established. Market value of the Lapeer Fund almost $4,500,000.
2003:
The first executive director is hired and a mission statement is adopted. The total in grants given is $167,103.
2004:
The Lapeer County Community Foundation office is opened on West Nepessing Street in downtown Lapeer. Non profit status, articles of incorporation, Michigan Charitable Solicitation License; and completion of Council of Michigan standards criteria are accomplished. North Branch Area Schools Fund established.
2005:
Public celebration of independence from Community Foundation of Greater Flint is held at the historic courthouse in downtown Lapeer. The Women’s Fund is established by one hundred women and eight more funds begin at LCCF: Lapeer West Boosters Endowment, Lapeer Community Scholarship and Loan Non-Endowed, Joseph Property Capital Defense, Joseph Property Defense Endowment, Conservation Monitoring Endowment, LACADA/Robert Jane Lynch Legal Defense Endowment, Irma Gelhausen Scholarship, and Lapeer Community Schools Endowment. Assets are just under $6,500,000 and the total in grants given is $59,194.
2006:
The Taylor Fund, Adam & Corrinne Moore Music Fund, Lapeer Vocational Fund and Carpenter Endowment Funds established as sub-funds of the Lapeer Community Schools Endowment Fund; Lapeer County Bar Association Fund, GLBC Conservation Easement Fund, Suncrest-Lapeer County Medical Care Facility Fund, and Kiwanis Scholarship Fund are established.
2007:
The Wayne Hildebrant Police Scholarship Fund and Access to Nature Endowment Fund are established. LCCF is awarded W.K. Kellogg Foundation Access to Recreation Initiative grant. Envisioning for Lapeer County’s Future is begun in partnership with Lapeer Development Corporation.
2008:
LCCF passes $1,000,000 mark in grants given since our beginning!
2008:
Renwick Lapeer Community Schools Loan Fund, Lapeer Autism Family Relief, Gallery 194-Elevate the Arts Fund, and Ronald C. Warner Scholarship Fund are established. The total in grants given in 2008 was $385,998.
2009:
Council on Foundations National Standards are attained. Three new scholarships are added: Jacob N. Johnson, Jack and Carolyn Griffin, and John Sak Memorial. LCCF assets exceed $7,000,000.
2010:
The Foundation office moves to Cedar Street in downtown Lapeer. The Doris F. and Burns L. Rolland, Sr. Endowment for Rolland-Warner Students, Mary Jane Congdon Memorial Scholarship, and the Chapter DX P.E.O. Scholarship are established. A new record in total grants given to Lapeer County - $269,332.
2011:
Four new scholarship funds are added: Daley Acres Agricultural Memorial, Jimmy Thompson Memorial, Tracey Thompson Memorial, and LakeVille Memorial High School Alumni. The PIX Arts Council for Greater Lapeer, an endowed fund, is also established.
